Sennheiser Neumann KMS 105 supercardioid condenser capsule with heavy duty grille for SKM 5200 handheld transmitter, nickel. Special order.

Product Overview

The Neumann KMS 105 Supercardioid Condenser Capsule with Heavy-Duty Grille (Nickel) SKU 008559 is the ruggedized variant of the KK 105 S capsule head for Sennheiser SKM 5200 and SKM 5000 handheld transmitters. Where the standard KK 105 S uses a multi-level wire gauze acoustic filter, the Heavy-Duty (HD) variant replaces it with integrated foam pop protection for superior resistance to plosive energy, extreme moisture, and outdoor environmental conditions. It delivers the same Neumann KMS 105 supercardioid condenser sound with enhanced protection for demanding live production, outdoor broadcast, and high-humidity deployments. Special order item.

Product Description

The KK 105 HD (nickel) capsule head shares the same K 105 condenser element as the standard KK 105 S, derived from Neumann’s K 50 pressure gradient transducer used in the KM 150 and KM 185 reference microphones. The supercardioid polar pattern maintains uniform off-axis rejection from 80 Hz to 20 kHz, providing high gain before feedback in multi-channel wireless stage environments. The critical difference from the standard KK 105 S is the heavy-duty grille: integrated foam pop protection with an expanded-pore surface area replaces the fine wire gauze screen. This design is specifically engineered to handle extreme moisture perspiration, rain, humidity and strong plosive energy from close-miked vocalists, reducing the risk of element contamination in outdoor or high-intensity indoor stage applications. Maximum SPL handling is 150 dB (THD 0.5%). The capsule mates directly with SKM 5200 and SKM 5000 transmitters. Includes a large nylon carry bag. Special order only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the KK 105 S and KK 105 HD?Both use the same Neumann K 105 supercardioid condenser element. The KK 105 S uses a multi-level wire gauze acoustic filter. The KK 105 HD replaces this with integrated foam pop protection for superior resistance to moisture and plosives in outdoor and high-intensity stage applications.Does the foam grille affect audio quality compared to the wire gauze version? The foam grille is designed to be acoustically transparent across the operational frequency range. High-frequency response is comparable between the HD and S variants in typical stage use.Is this compatible with the SKM 5200-II?Yes. Compatible with SKM 5200, SKM 5200-II, SKM 5000, and SKM 5000-II transmitters. What is the lead time for this special-order item?Lead times vary.
