Extron HDMI SM Cable, 6′ (1.8 m) Surface Mount Boxes

The Extron SM Series Surface Mount Boxes provide a clean, professional solution for external mounting of Extron Architectural Adapter Plates (AAPs), Flex55 modules, or EU Series products on walls, lecterns, credenzas, or other flat surfaces. Available in one- through four-gang configurations, these boxes offer a non-invasive alternative to in-wall installations, making them ideal for retrofits, temporary setups, or environments where wall modifications are restricted.

These boxes address the need for accessible AV connectivity without compromising existing structures. They feature ample internal depth for organized cable routing and connector placement, ensuring tidy installations even with multiple HDMI, VGA, USB-C, network, audio, or power connections. The low-profile design minimizes visual impact while providing sufficient space for cable management and strain relief.

Constructed from high-impact plastic with a smooth, paintable white finish, the SM Series combines durability with an attractive appearance that blends into most interior environments. Multiple knockouts and rear openings support flexible cable entry from raceways, floor boxes, or conduits, keeping wiring concealed and protected.

Primary applications include classrooms, conference rooms, boardrooms, training facilities, and lecture halls where surface-mounted inputs or controls are preferred. They are especially effective for mounting media controllers, button panels, input plates, or power modules on lecterns, walls, or furniture in presentation-oriented spaces.

Compatibility focuses on Extron AAPs, Flex55 modules, and EU Series wallplates when paired with appropriate mounting kits. The boxes support standard one- to four-gang layouts, accommodating combinations of AV, data, power, and control connections while maintaining full functionality and compliance with low-voltage installation standards.

Installation is simple and non-destructive: secure the box to the mounting surface using fasteners through the provided holes, route cables through knockouts or rear openings, install the AAP/Flex55/EU components, and attach the faceplate. The design supports quick deployment, easy access for maintenance, and future reconfiguration without damaging walls or requiring drywall repairs.
