ViewSonic VX4381U-4K 43-Inch 4K UHD Multimedia Display

Product Overview

The ViewSonic VX4381U-4K is a 43-inch 4K UHD commercial monitor with multi-picture functionality designed for AV integrators, command center operators, and IT managers who need to display multiple simultaneous input sources on a single large-format screen. The combination of Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) modes with USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs makes the VX4381U-4K a flexible multi-source display platform for security monitoring, broadcast production, trading floors, and network operations centers where viewing multiple feeds simultaneously is operationally required.

Product Description

The VX4381U-4K delivers 3840×2160 4K UHD resolution across its 43-inch panel, providing sufficient pixel density to display multiple HD source windows simultaneously without significant resolution compromise in PBP or PIP configurations. USB-C input supports single-cable laptop connectivity with video and power delivery, extending the monitor’s utility to standard workstation deployments in addition to multi-source monitoring applications. HDMI and DisplayPort inputs provide broad source compatibility, supporting connection to media players, PCs, servers, AV distribution systems, and other video infrastructure components. Picture-by-Picture mode divides the screen into discrete zones for simultaneous display of up to two independent sources at full resolution partitions, while Picture-in-Picture mode overlays a secondary source window on the primary display. The large 43-inch screen size at 4K resolution provides a high-information-density display surface suitable for monitoring dashboards, multi-camera security feeds, trading platform displays, and other high-density information environments. The ergonomic stand provides height, tilt, and swivel adjustment for comfortable positioning in both standing and seated workstation configurations. VESA mounting compatibility supports wall installation and large monitor arm deployment for control room and command center integration. Built-in speakers provide audio output for the primary source without additional hardware. The 3-year limited warranty with ViewSonic’s pixel performance policy provides commercial-grade coverage for enterprise and institutional procurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between PIP and PBP mode on the VX4381U-4K?

Picture-in-Picture (PIP) displays a smaller secondary source window overlaid on top of the primary full-screen source, allowing both to be visible simultaneously. Picture-by-Picture (PBP) splits the screen into two zones typically side by side with each zone showing a separate source at its own resolution allocation, which is more useful for monitoring two sources with equal priority.

Q: How many simultaneous sources can be displayed at once?

The VX4381U-4K supports PIP and PBP modes, enabling two simultaneous sources to be displayed. The specific window size and layout in PIP mode can typically be adjusted through the OSD menu.

Q: Is the 43-inch size suitable for a standard desk workstation?

A 43-inch monitor requires adequate desk depth (typically 80cm or more) to maintain comfortable viewing distance. At 4K resolution on a 43-inch panel, the pixel density is lower than on a 32-inch 4K panel, which some users prefer for readability. Most users find it most comfortable at arms-length or beyond, making it well-suited for standing desk setups, conference room use, or wall-mounted control room installations.

Q: What inputs are available and can they all be used in PBP mode?

The monitor includes USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs. PBP mode allows two of these inputs to be displayed simultaneously. Refer to the product manual for specific input combinations supported in PBP mode.

Q: Does the USB-C port support 4K video output from a laptop?

Yes. The USB-C input supports 4K video signal delivery from compatible laptops and workstations with USB-C video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt). Check your laptop’s USB-C video capability to confirm 4K support.

Q: Is this monitor suitable for wall mounting in a control room?

Yes. The VESA mount compatibility supports wall bracket installation. For control room and command center wall mounting, verify the VESA pattern and use a wall bracket rated for the monitor’s weight and size.

Q: Can this monitor be used as a standard single-source display without PIP/PBP?

Yes. PIP and PBP are optional modes that can be enabled or disabled through the OSD. In standard mode, the monitor operates as a single-source 43-inch 4K display with full resolution dedicated to one input.
